Day 2 Falmouth to Coruna
24 June 2016 | Bay of Biscay
Gillian
We had a good night sailing although neither of us got much sleep with all the boat noises and bumpy bed. This morning the wind changed a bit so that we were sailing upwind but still making good progress although a little light at times. We have the hydrovane working now and it is doing a good job steering the boat. There have been so many ships! At times it looks like space invaders on our screen! Sometimes we have had to dodge them or find a space to move between them so it has kept us busy. The traffic separation zone at the Oushant took us by surprise and we had to change course so that we didn't move into the zone, where numerous ships were travelling in one direction only. Surprisingly we have not come across one yacht - just cargo ships, tankers, fishing boats and cruise liners. The Queen Victoria sailed quite close to us at one stage. This afternoon we had a visit of dolphins which kept us entertained for a while. There have been a few sea birds flying around too. We don't seem to be able to get emails through our satellite but if anyone needs to get hold of us the satellite email should work and that is neilbay@myiridium.net. Would love it if someone could let us know about the Uk referendum, and Vanessa could you let me know about your scan please. Love to you all!
