Arrival in Coruna!
26 June 2016 | Marina Nautico, A Coruna
Gillian
We are here after a fairly uncomfortable night and morning. During the night the wind picked up to 25 knots, and the sea became a lot more uncomfortable with swells coming from each and every direction. The boat loved the increased wind and was skidding around and surfing the waves up to 10 knots. To make things more comfortable and more controlled we reefed down, first one and then a second reef. The conditions meant that neither of us got any sleep and added to that we needed to do a couple of gybes around a fishing boat and then again to keep us on course. The approach to Coruna was unpleasant but we made it and as we came into the harbour the swells dropped and we were able to find the marina and our berth without a problem. Very wobbly legs getting off the boat, but we went for a good walk around the old town, and enjoyed a few glasses of sangria to celebrate. Had a long much needed nap and tonight we will find a restaurant to enjoy some tapas. We both find it amazing to be here especially as we did not to expect to be in Spain but rather in Portugal. While we were in passage it felt long and enduring but now we are here it feels like it was just a brief moment. Weird.
