December saw the end of the Christmas rush, a chance to close the factories for the Christmas recess, and off to Australia for the wedding of our son, Tyrone.
The wedding went off beautifully in Perth - here isd a pic of Tyrone and our new daughter-in-law Katie

Most of the back end of October as well as early November was taken up, between normal business commitments, with practicing for the Coastal Skippers exam, which we need to be able to file flight plans if we want to leave South African waters.
Grant aced the theory exam and after that the practical exam took place under the worst possible conditions with a huge swell and breaking monsters right in the port entrance - one big growler came right across the starboard bow, covered the stack pack and flooded the cockpit and even part of the saloon!! We have new respect for Sea Flair with the way she handled it - our "submarine" catamaran!!

We are all smiling, but we don't really want the holiday to end....
Lola and the others are returning to Durban by car and Grant and Dallen are leaving tomorrow to get back to Durban or Richards Bay - depending on weather ...

All good things must come to an end, and so we returned to Maputo marina to clear out of the country.
And the captain definitely needs to go on a diet after this ......

We tried to get down to Santa Maria - apparently only possible through very narrow channels and near high tide and only possible for a catamaran.
After sitting on the sand twice halfway down the channel, we decided to drop anchor and make a day of it

We once read that cruising is boat maintenance in exotic places - quite true.
One of the bright sparks on the trip put something down the loo that should have gone in the dust-bin.
