Life is all about balance ... the yin, and the yang.
After the positive news about the mainsail, we took the opportunity to service the boom ... well, strip it down and clean it up in preparation for a repaint. With the help and advice of our tame fabricator we stripped down the boom except for the vang reinforcing plate which didn't want to come off even after all the rivets were out.
Turns out that lurking under that plate was a crack .... and a shoddy repair. We're currently awaiting news from the riggers about how (or if) we can repair the boom. Lucky we found the crack now rather than 300 miles out into the middle of nowhere.
