The wind is out of the Southwest @5-10kts which means a close hauled run across Albemarle Sound. Seas are light and the head wind makes for a coolish passage in spite of the 87deg temps. Waiting on the other side is the Alligator River which is wide and shallow, nearly a sound itself. Otter will look for a protected anchorage by going up a tributary, South Lake. The wind has picked up to 15kts so we head 3 miles up river before finding an anchorage that suits. The quiet adds to the feeling of isolation. Remarkably we've only gone 30miles and already enjoying an anchorage that feels untouched and remote.
