Sailing aboard Sea Quell

Out with the old, in with the new.
12/31/2008, Seattle

Out with the old and in with the new!

This has been a fun blog, full of adventures and memories.

Ian has grown so much. In the coming months he will have a driving license and be off to college.

Thanks everyone for sharing our adventures in person and through this blog. After several years, it is time to close this blog and start anew.

Please contact me off-line to see if we've started a new blog elsewhere.

Near-miss in the mist.
08/24/2007, Friday Harbor, WA

We were raised by the sound of large engines nearby. A quick look out the window showed a large research vessel's bow very very close! We were anchored in the bay, but visibility was terrible with a heavy mist. Here is a photo of the boat that just barely missed us..

Don't let the size of the photo fool you, this beast was REALLY nearby when we too that photo, had just passed us.

Marina, Deer Harbor, WA
08/21/2007, Deer Harbor, WA

This was one of the most enjoyable parts of summer. We left Sea Quell at anchor in Friday Harbor, and sailed Morning Star to Deer Harbor.

It was a blast being crew on Morning Star, and we enjoyed using the light winds as we found our way through the islands of Wasp Passage.
