Another Blustery Day
09 September 2008
Forecasts were for a strong cold front to sweep through beginning around noon today. So we were up early and underway by 7:30. Our intention to put on a few miles but tuck in before it gets too crappy.
It looked like it might be a challenge to get off the dock without hitting that huge motor vessel but we managed without incident. By the way, I gave a dimension estimate yesterday of 120 feet. I checked it on the web and it's 130 feet. The web entry also inticates that it takes something like 37,000 gallons of fuel. Figure on $4.00/gallon, the cost of a fill up would be almost $150,000!
So we leave with the sun bright and winds light. We have a couple of fairly tricky passages made more complicated by many, many lobster pots. The wind did pick up and the seas built so it got pretty lumpy. Fortunately we were only going to Tenant's Harbour about 15 miles. A very nice small town with many lobster boats and some pleasure boats. We picked up a rental mooring and it started to rain, hard. Judy is watching one of her 300 or so movies and I'm up in what's called the "lounge" banging off this post.
Weather is supposed to settle down tomorrow so we'll try to put on some good miles.
