Broadway

As we indicated yesterday, we anchored at the 79th Street Yacht Basin. This is on the Hudson River along Manhattan and as we suspected, there was a lot of din and tumult through the night. The major road which follows the river has traffic all night long. The river is a major thoroughfare for all sorts of vessels; all of which create a lot of wake (wave and slop which rock the boat, sometimes violently). The tides shift the flow of the Hudson every 6 and a half hours so we point in one direction for a while then change to the opposite direction. Remember, we're on our anchor, so when we change directions, we fret somewhat that the anchor pulls out and we are adrift.
Despite these travails, we sleep fairly well and get up with a full, New York day on tap. We go into the city, take the subway from where we are, 79th street to Times Square 42nd Street. We obviously look like the archetypical tourists 'cause every hawker wanted us to buy their tour or sell us tickets. Anyway, we had a grand time gawking at all the glitz and glitter. We to to tkts.com and wait in line for a while to get discounted tickets to Chicago this evening. This is a favourite of both Judy and I and we are quite pleased.
So back to Sea Sharp (by subway), shower and put on proper clothes, back ashore for a quick supper, the back downtown for the show. It was, needless to say, spectacular
