Crandon Park

25 January 2010
Again on the recommendation of Tom and Lisa, former owners of Sea Sharp, we move from our little Lake haven to a place on Key Biscayne called Crandon Park. We've been trying to get in here for several days and they finally have a mooring available.

Key Biscayne is an island connected by bridges to Miami but even though it is in close proximity to downtown Miami, it is primarily a nature refuge, recreational area and public beach. There is a large marina but also about sixty moorings and we are lucky enough to get one.

There are great biking/running trails and we take advantage of them and go to the very expansive beach (about a mile away). There is easy access to the shore so Judy takes Chopin for lots of walks. She still gets many stares and comments for walking a cat. Chopin goes along with it for her sake.

On Sunday we take the bus the short couple of miles into "town" to church then groceries. Back to the boat where I shoo Judy and Chopin off to the beach so I can do some maintenance and deep cleaning. Judy meets our boat neighbour, Dennis of Air Born, a very nice Tartan 46 .He invites us to his boat for sundowners and we have very pleasant conversation.

The weather is very blustery as fronts have been moving through but this is a great place to wait for better weather and definitely a destination on our cruising agenda.
