Another Miserable Day
14 September 2008
We had a quiet night at anchor in Rockland and up and away early. Forecast was not too bad and we wanted to cross Massachusetts Bay to a place called Situete; about 35 miles. Well it was miserable with 20 to 25 knot winds directly on our nose, big seas, and foul tides. So we decided to cut the day short and hopped around to Gloucester. Yep, that's the Gloucester of considerable fame including most recently, the Perfect Storm setting.
We are at the Eastern Point Yacht Club on a mooring and may have to sit here for a while - perhaps another day. We were not in any danger but we were facing probably five more hours of hard slogging; hard on captain, crew and vessel .
Is some ways this is reminiscent of Douglas Harbour; there is a C&C 34 to one side of us (same as Ellis and Karen) and a CS 36 behind (sane as Bob and Carolyn). That's where the resemblance stops; I hope to post the pic of the Yacht Club which is definitely upscale from out modest "federal building". I'll post this now and perhaps add to it as the day goes by. We don't know what we'll do today but may just kick around the mooring,
