This is thunderball cave at Staniel Cay in the Exuma Island chain.

This is the groto where 2 James Bond films where filmed. Never Say Never and Never say Never Again. James came through the hole in the roof and droped down into this cave.

Whenever we do a deep water ocean crossing I like to drag all my fishing gear. On our trip from Long Island to Rum Cay I lost all my good lures. They all got cut off.....This is not uncommon if you dont use steel leader and you get hit with Wahoo. Well I lost all my "bait" so I pulled out one of my Tuna rigs. These rigs are made for dragging Ballyhoo(a small fish as bait) and a colorfull skirt slides over the head of the Ballyhoo. Problem.....I had no Ballyhoo but these were all I had to throw over, so I threw only one line over thinking it was a waste of time. The first thing I caught was a Marlin. These are catch and release Trophy fish that people spend big money to "try" and catch but most never do. The second fish I caught was this Dolphin (not that kind of Dolphin). We fed 8 people with 1/4 of this fish that night!

We left Georgetown the morning of Feb 19 and fell in with and unusual number of boats heading to the same place. All totaled there were over 30 boats. Most Cruisers dont go any further than Georgetown. They like the protection of the Exuma Island chain and the shallow water cruising of the Bahama Banks. The Islands further south and East are more remote, offer less protection and you have open ocean crossings of deep water to get there.

These Islands also provide more of the unspoiled experince of the Bahamas.

Most Boats only knew one or two of the other boats in this Armada yet by the time we got to Long Island we had made arrangements for a family style dinner for 44 people. There is a local lady who will make a family style dinner for folks if they call ahead and let her know. We called ahead on the VHF radio with a request for dinner for 44 not the usually 4 to 6. She was happy to fix the food and feed us but her little building was busitng at the seams. Even so a great time was had by all and new friends were made and new cruising partners gained.

This Hot Dog buzzed all the anchored boats then landed right in the anchorage. He then taxied between Us and the shore and proceeded to back the plane up to the beach in with all those dingies.

They went over to Chat and Chill had a drink and about 1/2 hour later they fired up and took off right from there thru all the anchored boats again.

We found out he is a local who owns one of the Islands and likes to fly in for a drink once and a while.

This is typical Bar/Resturant that we see here in the Bahamas. This on Volleyball Beach and is what we see looking at the beach from our boat.

Windows and doors are not needed and it always Causual attire.

We have a nondenominational service each week held in our Casuarina Tree Sanctuary.

Compare this low cost, no maintainance Church to what you attend......You dont always get what you pay for!!!!!

This is posted on the beach by the Cruisers so we all know the way home and how far it is.

It is also used to spark a thought about what the people in those far away cold places are doing to keep warm.
