Sea Urchin II - Western Australia
New Tender
15 Oct 2007

We headed off to Dawesville with our new purchase from the Mandurah Boat Show, a new tender to replace the one that slowly disintegrated on my journey south. I sold the old one for 5 cents, it was a cheap import that could not stand up to the Australian sun, the glue on the seams slowly gave way and I was left with something that resembled a plastic bath. Once in Dawesville the boys spent hours motoring up and down a small channel gaining valuable dingy hours. That night we had a BBQ, where I burnt the meat, and sat back for a few quiet beers. The following morning it was a tail wind cruise back to the now packed Mandurah Marina with Riley attempting to eat all the leftover food on the yacht before we made port.

Out Today
28 May 2007

The yacht is finally ready and I am out on the 8am lock opening, catching the tide out of Darwin harbour. Next stop is King George Sound. I will be out of blog range for about 3-4 weeks so will forward all photos and stories when I reach Broome. For those in MOFSC here is a real rig. La Novia was in Darwin for a few days on the way to Thailand and I spent a few days helping the boys get rid of any glass stubbies in the fridge.

Last Weekend in Darwin
20 May 2007

With less than a week to go I now have everything onboard and ready go, except the fresh perishables which will be picked up on Saturday morning. On Friday night Allison, Paul, Blake and Imogene came out for a twilight sail, we sailed up to the wharf precinct before turning with the tide for home. On the sail back the kids had to steer by the compass, every now and then we would adjust our course by 20 or 30 degrees, but as long as the line was on a whole number what's 30 degrees when your only 6 years old.

Cullen Bay
16 May 2007

Just over 1 week to go in Cullen Bay, I was asked if I had a photo of the area, and it just so happens that I took one on the weekend from Mark & Heathers, just before we finished off a fresh tuna. So here is Cullen Bay at sunset, the Urchin is down there somewhere. I have just finished fitting the most important item on the yacht - a new rod holder. Big brother would be happy, hopefully it will get lots of use over the coming months.
