The Crew of Seawing are preparing to embark on an epic adventure, sailing southward through the Caribbean. Follow along on this site and experience the adventure with them.
Okay, so we've now been here for a bit & getting settled. We've been going hard, finding a house & getting settled in, working on the boat; some fun was in order. We'd told the kids that we'd try and get out for some fun on weekends. This past weekend, we figured we'd haul our little speed-boat to a boat-ramp and run down to Fort Myers Beach & maybe a little time on Lover's Key State Park picking up shells. We ran down to the launch ramp near the Sanibel Causeway & launched her...it's just that she wouldn't start. Okay, so I feel silly, but I didn't charge the battery. Didn't cross my mind, it worked when I clicked the key ashore, when I raised and lowered the motor and tested the lights, but not enough juice to start. Here we are in the water at the base of a boat ramp on a busy weekend with people all over the place trying to get in and out of the water. I nice fellow with a jet-ski offered a boost, but it was just too dead for a boost to start it.
Ben was heard to say something like, 'O now, is it going to be like last time?'....'last time' being the winter of 2004-2005 where EVERYTHING broke on the boat all winter. We assured him that this would be better, pulled the boat out of the water and drove to Fort Myers Beach for some fun in the sand (sans boat). The kids had a blast as the video's below attest to:
Q: Why "Seawing"?
A: "If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me."
(Psalms 139:9-10)
"And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead."
(Acts 17:30-31)
