SEAWING LEAVES FORT MYERS!

After months and months or woodwork, mechanical and electrical, we finally untie the dock lines and head down river for Open Ocean!
It seemed like it would never happen, but finally we are underway. We'd set a deadline to be leave on October 31st..missed it and finally left at dusk the following Thursday evening. Our friend Don spent a huge amount of time (weeks) rewiring Seawing.you should see the difference in the electrical panel..amazing!
We headed to sea Thursday night & took four-hour watches through the night & continued all-day Friday, arriving in the Florida Keys after dark on Friday evening. Choosing to head in the bayside of the Keys, some tricky navigation was ahead as that area has unbelievably shallow water (six to eight feet is considered deep water) and littered with really shallow sections with narrow channels & cuts through them. We set our anchor about 11:30 Friday night in a familiar little bay behind Tavernier Creek at Islamorada. Sure was good to be back it the Keys..felt a little like coming home in some ways.
Trip down was pretty simple; weather was good, food was delicious! Kids were happy to have dolphins come visit for a little while.
More again soon!
