Drove from Seattle up to Vancouver on Sunday (about 3 hours) to visit with Andrew and his family, here from Hong Kong to vacation during Chinese New Year -- Kung Hey Fat Choy! The city of Vancouver seems to be enjoying hosting the Winter Olympics: big crowds of tourists; lots of media; police from all over Canada on every corner; a variety of protests -- First Nations issues, Homeless issues, Women's issues, Don't Use Fur (see photo above). Along with the engineering courses I'm taking at SMA, Dorothy has been taking courses in the "deck" program and this quarter it is Electronic Navigation. She and I were talking about her class and out of that discussion came a story I'd like to share with you. I wrote about this at the time it occurred, but that was in the prior blog, which AOL discontinued without notice, leading to our starting this blog in late 07. (Continued...)
