Into Maryland
01 November 2007 | Chesapeake City, MD
Steve/Sky partly cloudy, wind W 10-15kts, 16C
(Note: entries for the past four days just entered - first wireless access since NYC...)
An excellent sail today, winds from the west at 15 knots, and we fairly flew up the Delaware. The girls had a pretty easy day, which they mostly spent below. Steph gave a violin lesson to Marine, and apart from an abbreviated math session, the day can be summed up when Judy poked her head below and asked Steph what she and Marine were doing. "We are playing," came the reply, "You are observing us in our natural habitat!"
We entered the Chesapeake and Delaware (C&D) Canal this afternoon, which is supposed to be the busiest canal in North America. We hit the tides/currents right, and had an easy transit into the public dock at Chesapeake City, where we met up again with Fiere Allure. The girls had a good romp at the playground ashore, and we are presently at the dock just barely sitting on the bottom at low tide(!). The forecast is calling for dirty weather, so we may be here another day, but we hope to get to Annapolis tomorrow. We are also watching the progress of Tropical Storm Noelle, which will track past on the New Jersey coast, and possibly head towards Nova Scotia.
