Point Lookout to Yorktown

We woke up to light winds out of the south-south east and a nip in the air, 3C! We motor-sailed (mostly motored, little sailed) to Yorktown and anchored in Sarah Creek. Our entrance was not without incident; as we made our way up the channel, we felt a shudder. I immediately moved the engine throttle to neutral, and when we felt it again, thinking there was something wrong with the engine, I switched off and prepared to unfurl the genoa and sail back out. Then we realised that we had left the centre-board down and it had bounced off the sand bar beneath us....we were in 8 feet of water, and although we draw only 4'11", with the board down out draught increases to 8'10". Oops. The rest of the anchorage proceeded without incident.
Today we saw our first pelicans. Peculiar, but neat-looking birds. I have a soft spot for them since a "pelican, azure" adorns my family crest.
