We made it to Rangiroa and of course we headed to the nearest 'snack shack' for our 'cheeseburger-in-paradise'. This shack was right over the lagoon with a great view of the anchorage--the Hinano (Tahitian beer) was ice cold--highly recommend this spot.

The next day Fernando took us on a 'pass dive'. This is done at the end of a flood tide. Fernando dropped us off on the ocean side of the pass and the entering current pulled us in through the crystal clear pass to the lagoon. What a ride! We saw a ton of colorful fish, sharks, and a six foot moray eel. Fernando then took us to his house and fed us fresh tuna sashimi-- we were tired and full, loaded with black pearls. We were going to leave Manihi the next day, but it rained all day. While we were huddled inside our boat, we heard a knock and Fernando was their on his little boat with free fresh bread from his bakery. We truely enjoyed our stay at Manihi. But we will never forget our kind and wonderful friend--Fernando.
