On our way from Great Barrier Island to Tutukaka harbor we we visited by many dolphins. It is always a joy to both of us to see the dolphins.

April 9, 2011 Serenity at anchor in Forester Bay next to Port Fitzroy ( we did not lke the holding in Port Fitzroy), on Great Barrier Island. Forester Bay was as calm as a mill pond at night.

What do you do while your boat is being worked on in the boatyard? You go snowboarding in an indoor ski slope, of course. We had Serenity's bottom painted, speed-proped, and hull polished--then back in the water. We left Auckland with sad hearts--we had come to call it home. We headed up the coast in gale force winds to an island called Kawau (not sure how to pronounce it--everyone said it differently). After a night in Bon Accord Harbor we motorsailed over to Great Barrier Island and Forester Bay. The bay was super protected and calm--that night we were joined by Michael and Gloria on Paikea Mist. We had not shared an anchorage with them since Tonga. We went hiking on the island to a beautiful waterfall, then had an Island Burger at the little stand in Port Fitzroy--it was fun.
