This is Bill's response after sticking his fingers into the fan for the twentieth time! He just never learned...

July 12, 2011 We cast off our docklines and motored out of Vuda Point Marina's entrance into Nadi Bay. As is the Cornett tradition, we had light wind right on our nose, so--we motored the thirteen miles to Musket Cove. As we approached the outer reef we noticed white clouds just over the reef. These are mist clouds caused by the swells crashing on the barrier reef. We passed one of the 'world class' surf spots called Cloud Break--named for the white mist cloud hanging over it. Bill and Becky had shared thier 747 coming here with many surfers as there were 15-20' swells expected to hit the SW of Fiji. We saw these huge waves sending white spumes many meters up into the air--like explosions on the reef. We were not affected by these swells and had a comfortable ride into the cove. Musket Cove sounds so cool to us romantic sailors--and it is real Kewl! Musket Cove is formed at the isthmus of Malolo Island and Malolo Lai Lai Island (Lai Lai means 'little' in fijian). The legend goes that Musket Cove was sold for one musket long ago-- having three resorts on it now, it is worth a lot more muskets today. We picked up a mooring Ball--Bill has the title of 'Number One Ball Grabber' as he never misses the mooring ball with our boat hook. We checked in and joined the Musket Cove yacht Club for $1 FD for the skipper and $5 FD for each crew member--we are now card carrying life time members of the Musket Cove Yacht Club! We were allowed to use the resort's pools (salt water), bars, and restaurants--very kewl. We hiked up to the top of the island and snorkeled the inner reef. After two nights we left Musket Cove and followed our friend's, Michael and Gloria, boat Paikea Mist to Quito Island--also known as Castaway Island. We anchored in 50' to the SE of the Island and explored a small island to the west. This small island, with a pretty white sand beach, is reported to be where Tom Hanks filmed the movie Castaway. The little island looks like the island in the movie--it even has the flat rocky peak where Hanks contemplated suicide. We also snorkeled the inner reef and had a quiet night at anchor. The next morning we were off for Mana Island.
