THE ADVENTURES OF S/V SERENITY AND HER CREW
Up the East Coast of Oz
03/08/2012

Driving up the east coast we saw large gum trees--or eucalyptus trees. The colors were many shades of green. We strained our eyes to see Koala Bears, but did not see one. There were many rivers, most of them brown with run-off from recent rains.

They had a nice walkway following the beach with many trees overhead at Coff's. There were many red-necked parrots talking to us and gorgeous flowers--this is a morning glory flower which of course was all over a tree.

Cammy--the wonder car

This is our Cammy--a true friend. We drove her up the east coast of Oz.

Back to Oz
03/08/2012

Back to the blog.......March 5,2012...We left Socal at 10:30 pm on March 3rd. We flew on Air Pacific as we had flown with them in the past and they had a good price for the seats we wanted. We did have a three hour lay-over in Nani, Fiji--but it was actually a nice break in the long flight. We lost Sunday somewhere over the Pacific Ocean. We spent one night in Sydney, then we drove 'Cammy', our rental car (Hertz had the best deal) over the Sydney Harbor Bridge and headed north. We followed highway '1', The Pacific Highway, up to Newcastle--about three hours. We only spent one night in Newcastle (that was enough), then we drove up to Coff's Harbor. We spent two nights in Coff's at the Aqualuna Resort ($125/night)-- a really nice place to stay. Coff's Harbor had a nice waterfront, beautiful beaches, and a huge shopping mall. We left Friday and drove up through many beautiful national park forests to Tweed Heads--a resort area near Surfer's Paradise. We are going up to Brisbane tomorrow where we will stay for a week before we take the train back up to Bundaberg and our lovely yacht--Serenity.
