Bowling Green Bay

12 May 2012
May 5, 2012 We left Ustart Bay at 7:23 am after a surprisingly calm night--it seems weird to anchor in 10 feet of water over a mile from shore. We had strong southerly winds, 20-25 knots, to start then the winds backed more to the SE and slowly died down. We again motor-sailed to Bowling Green Bay, arriving at our anchor spot by 1:25 pm. And, once again, we anchored in 10 feet of murky water about a mile and a half from shore. Sherry made tacos for dinner to honor Cinco de Mayo--Muy sabroso! We were bouncing and rolling a little, but not too bad--not until 3 am the next morning! The incoming tide held our stern to the steep choppy wind waves coming from the south. The wind increased to 14 knots and Serenity was getting her bottom smacked! Our bed is in the stern so each smack sounded like a boom to us. I checked outside and the waves looked like a washing machine in the near full moonlight. The current waves were colliding with the wind waves--and we were stuck in the middle! Up at 6:20 am and underway by 6:50 am. In the photo notice how far we are from shore...
