Back on Schedule

After a hectic few days we are back on schedule. We had a good passage down to Milford Haven despite a twenty five mile detour to avoid the various firing ranges which blight this beautiful coastline. We ended the estuary at night, with gunfire and red tracers shooting across the bay to our stern. It was 1.30 a.m. before we finally locked into the marina. On Friday there was a break in the weather which suggested we should make a break for Holyhead. We left the estuary at mid day and beat out beyond the Bishop rocks with the flood assisting. The forecast was for a south westerly to kick in but it never arrived and having stemmed the ebb for several hours we fired up the iron horse and motor sailed through the night. At dawn we were able to ease away under sail and entered Holyhead at 1530. Sunday was a beautiful day but this morning the grey sky signals more low pressure and strong winds from, guess where, the North. Our passage onwards to the Isle of Man is on hold.
