New York City
14 May 2016
Sunny with cloudy periods
Very few people are fortunate enough to see New York City from the East River. The view is breathtaking! You pass the Statute of Liberty, Wall Street, One World Trade Centre Tower and pass under the Brooklyn, Manhatten and Williamsburgh Bridges. You have a great view of the Empire State Building and pass directly below the United Nations Headquarters, you pass Roosevelt Island, the two mile Long Island between Manhatten and Queens and under the Queensborough Bridge. Then there is the infamous Hell Gate and then as you exit NY Harbour, you pass by Rikers Island (All you Law And Order fans wil be familiar with Rikers).
The East River has a reputation as a tricky passage because of the fast currents and the boiling rip tides of Hell Gate. It's all a matter of timing and a competent Captain (like mine). 😍
What a rush!!
