Barra de Navidad

After stopping for a few days in Bahia Chamela, and then another few days in Bahia Tenacatita, we are now finally in Barra de Navidad. Barra de Navidad is one of the coolest places yet, (though not temperature wise). Barra de Navidad is built on a point of land which is basically a large sandbar (hence the name Barra). Behind the town is a huge lagoon which has both a marina and a large anchorage. There are water taxis that run back and forth across the lagoon between the marina/anchorage and the town. I swear that every time we pull into the towns rickety wooden docks and walk thru the beachside palapa bars and through the narrow streets, I expect to see Bogart or maybe Captain Ron sitting at a table sipping a beer, or maybe Buffet standing under a palm tree and strumming his guitar.
Over the weekend we'll be going over to the neighboring town of Melaque, who as luck would have it will be celebrating their Patron saint....San Patricio....or Saint Patrick.
Although we are currently in the marina we will be moving out to the lagoon anchorage tomorrow where we will spend another few days before continuing south.
