We left La Cruz at 2:00pm and motored with no wind and large swells. It was uncomfortably rolly for about 6 hours, until we got around the point (Cabo Corrientes). We arrived at Careyes at about 7:30 am and it was calm and not another boat was in the anchorage. It's a beautiful, small anchorage with 3 lobes, like a 3-leaf clover. There are many colorful homes and condos on the hills around the bay; irredescent blues, persimmon orange, lemon yellow. It feels like you're in the carribean with all the bright homes. We went ashore to the hotel grounds and found out it was closed due to damage from the hurricane in Oct., but it was still very beautiful, and they were working on it with plans of opening it soon. We had a quick swim and lunch, then left for Barra. We tried to sail, but the wind was very light and we finally had to turn on the motor in order to get to Barra before dark. Barra has a large lagoon where the boats anchor, so it has flat calm water, which is nice. There were many friends here and we got together with some right away around the pool of the Sands Hotel, which is a cruiser hangout. The next night we went out to dinner with more friends in a restaurant that looks like it's built in a large tree, hence it's nicknamed the Treehouse Restaurant. It had great food and a beautiful location in the second story so we felt like we were in the tree, with basket lights hanging from the branches. Today we're going ashore to watch the playoff football games. Then tomorrow morning we're leaving for Las Hadas in Manzanillo, where we're meeting up with still more friends. More later...
