2014 Shakedown Sail
Jorge Bermudez
04/21/2014, Solomon's, Md

Took the boat out on Saturday for a sail on the Patuxent to check things out. 5-10 kt winds from the north. Shaky undocking maneuver even with Charlie holding my bow. Stern line wrapped itself around the grill propane tank as I was backing out
Once out on the river raised main and unfurled the headsail. Went up to the mast and found the goose neck cotter pin laying on deck. No safety pin installed on either one. Tried to slide it back in but could not get it realigned. Lowered all sails and motored back in. Finally was able to reinstall the cotter pin after a lot of effort!

2014 Sailing Season

And so another sailing season has begun. Major work done during the offseason by Zahnisers was up stepping both masts to replace the standing rigging. While the mizzen was done I also installed a TV antenna in case we decide to get a TV in the future. Quantum made new canvas to match the gray dodger. With the hull wash and wax I must say the boat shines in her slip.
The shower mixing valve did not survive the winter, body is cracked-my fault, did not winterize it.
The water heater RV is lifting with the system pressurized, needs to be replaced.

We left Cambridge on Monday. Cast off at 0700. Light winds we mostly motored the whole way back riding the ebb tide. Arrived at Z at 1400. Great weekend!

One of the reasons to come to Cambridge was dinner at Jimmie and Sooks. Sunday morning we realized J&S was closed for the holiday weekend and that most of the town is normally closed on Sundays!
