After looking at the forecast we called off trying to get to Cape May. Maybe next time. Will stay here at Bay Point Marina another day then start working our way back north.

We had to wait till high tide to leave Salt Ponds, 1400. Same stressful moments getting out. Plus there was an additional barge actively working in the middle of the entrance. We motorsailed to Little Creek. Arranged for a slip at East Beach Marina but that slip ended up being too narrow. Skalliwag would not fit in. Since the office was closed we motored over to Bay Point Marina and got a slip. Went to Lagoons for drinks and dinner. Chicken wing night. With a few dark and stormies and a great view it was a great night. Cap it off with Big Brother on the Boat!

We left Cape Charles Tuesday June 23rd. A day earlier than originally planned thinking we would be heading to Cape May. But we called off Cape May off that AM due to the forecast: cold front dropping down and north winds behind it. Leaving Cape Charles we decided to go to Salt Ponds and check it out since Marcella has never been there. Java warned us that it's too shallow but we blew him off. Big mistake! Going into Salt Ponds the dredging barges were sitting in the middle of the fairway and depths were just above 6 ft. We managed to get to the Marina. The dock boy was waiting for us at our slip. We wanted a stbd tie slip so he had to arrange a different slip. we handed him a spring line but he didn't know what a spring line is. We managed to dock the boat with me yelling at the poor dock boy. At least we gave him a $20 tip. After plugging in and cooling off we headed to the Bar/restaurant. Not the way I remember it! Kind of a red neck place. Food was good while keeping the flies away though.

2015 Summer Vacation
06/24/2015

We spent Monday June 22nd at Cape Charles. Didn't take long to tour the town. Not much has changed. High lites are a new Restaurant at the town dock: Waters Edge Grill. Excellent food. The Mahi Mahi tacos were awesome! Aqua is no longer at Bay Creek Marina. Bay Creek is now an oyster farm with some transient slips. There was a lot of activity in town associated with a missing boy, possibly drowned. USCG, Marine Police, divers involved in Search and Rescue.

We cast off at 0700 Sunday June 21st. Destination Cape Charles. Started off on a broad reach then beam and finally close reaching. We sailed for 70 NM to the Town Dock. Arrived at 2000. Only negatives were the extreme heat and the boat had about 100 flies onboard.
