Cape Cod Canal
10/08/2007, Cape Cod Canal, MA

Headed out against the wind and waves in Cape Cod Bay to get to the canal in time for the current to be heading in our direction. Popped out into huge roller coaster waves in Buzzard's Bay as the wind opposed the current so we turned off quickly for Marion, MA.

P-Town
10/07/2007, Provincetown, MA

Headed out over Stellwagen Bank on the way to Provincetown from Gloucester because we heard we could see whales there. We spotted a mother and baby just in time to avoid running over them - very exciting! Spent a couple of days in P-Town to catch up with laundry and provisioning and to take in the street scene.

Glassy waters
10/05/2007, Gloucester, MA

The Gulf of Maine looked like glass and we made good time motoring using just one motor. Wondered whether or not anyone has ever motored from Maine to Virginia with just an 8 hp outboard. Picked up a mooring ball at Eastern Point Yacht Club just inside the seawall at Gloucester - nice facilities and very friendly staff, but clearly frequented by a social class above us!

Nice harbor with friendly people, upscale homes along the shoreline, small grocery store in walking distance, and Secret Service patrolling the harbor near Bush's Walker Point.
