The rain
07 February 2010 | Barra De Navidad
We are in Barra de Navidad for the second time this season. We left here to spend 10 days in Tenacatita enjoying the clear water and the bocce ball. We arrived in Tenacatita on the 27th of January and had 5great days until this very weird and wild cold front came through. It was a beautiful morning but the wind started to blow around 2pm out of the east and that makes the anchorage at Tenacatita a lee shore. So we bashed our way to La Manzanilla, 4 miles to the other end of the bay. We dropped the hook and had a great afternoon windy, but safe. That night as the sun dropped to the west the lighting started. What a show!! Bolts and thunder we like we have never seen. Then at 1 am the wind started again and the rain came down and we sat and just hung on~!!! We sat thru the rest of the night and come up on what we thought was the last of the storm so we headed to Barra. We could see a squall out there but come on, this is Mexico. If it rains it does not do it for three days!! We were wrong!!!! We got the crap beat out of us. 35 knots of wind and the rain came down in sheets! It seemed everything we owned got wet. Not the typical Mexico we are used to. So we ran back to Tenacatita and sat out that night and came to Barra the next day and we have been drying out ever since!! Some times we just sit facing the sun and enjoy. The great thing about Barra is the anchorage at night is like sleeping in a marina because it is so flat. So we are catching up on on sleep!! we will post the video when the internet connection gets better.
