On the road again-almost
06 October 2010 | Encinitas to Tucson
We originally wanted to for Mazatlan on Monday however fate was against us. So in true Slacker fashion we left on Wednesday. But not before some pre-departure adventures.
First of all we drove to LA Tuesday morning to take care of some business and see Julie's parents. An hour and a half up there, visit for an hour and then 2 hours back. Why so long to get home you ask? Let me tell you. About 30 miles from Encinitas the front end of the van (van Morison) began to shimmy and shake like a go-go dancer. Crap. Slow down and continue on to Evans Tire. Diagnosis, worn out front left axle.
The wallet was opened wide and two hours later we were back in business.
We backed into the driveway and began to load the van. Stuff was flying out of storage and the back of the car was rapidly filling up. Julie called me over and held up a bottle of window shield washer fluid. "There's not much left in the bottle, do we need any?" I pulled the hood release lever and presto!. It came off in my hand. We went through this just last year. The original hood release cable lasted from 1995 until 2009. We replaced it last year and now it has broken again. They just don't build them like they use to.
By now its getting late and we want to get everything loaded before dark. Oh, did I mention that it had begun to rain? It just keeps getting better and better. Too late to go to the Dodge dealer and get another hood release cable and for sure to late to have it installed. So in true Slacker fashion I made my own.
Nice!
