Venados baseball game
11/18/2010
Once again we are off to the Baseball game. The Mazatlan Venados (deer) vs the Mexicali Aguilas (eagles)

Reserved seats are $8.00 and a cold beer is $1.60. As usual the game is slow to start with the stands fairly empty until about the 4th inning. Most Mexicans work later hours than Americans so the stands really don't fill up until about 8:30.

While we do enjoy rooting for the home team the real fun at a Mexican baseball game is people watching. Most notably, the food vendors. Unlike a San Diego Padres game where a well dressed water/waitress show up at your seat, takes your order and transmits it over a wireless device to be delivered by a runner shortly later. No, in Mexico all the food comes to you in boxes slung over the shoulders of kids. Empanadas, fruit cups, pizza, tacos, ceviche, sausages and of course peanuts, popcorn and cotton candy. The sausages vendors wear the nicest hats and our friend Joe from Pacific Jade just had to have his picture taken wearing one.

The other things I like about the baseball games are the sponsors. Doesn't this make you want to buy a cold Pacifico? Ignore the chicken, he just wanted his picture taken.

Welcome Back Cruisers
11/07/2010
.
We had the first annual (we hope) Welcome Back Cruisers Pool and Taco Party this Saturday. Elvira the Office Manager/ Queen of Marina Mazatlan decided that we should have a party so she got permission from her condo to use the pool and patio for the afternoon.
We had a limit of 50 people. Elvira also just had Valeria's 1st birthday party and we hired the same caterer. 3000 pesos (60 per person) about $230.00 and the caterer brought the tables, chairs, table cloths, a karaoke machine, and all the food for 50. Handmade tortillas filled with carne asada, pork, or cheese, grilled onions salsas and horchata. Yummy!
.
Everyone got there about 2:30 for a swim
And then some great blue grass music from the crew of Katie Hill

Brings back our memories of putting the boat back together in that 'special kind of heat!' Mazatlan & the cruisers who are there are special - have some shrimp for us & say HI to anybody who was there in '06 - '08 hello for us.!

If you would have ask me about the weather on Wednesday here is what I would have said. "Not too bad, it's hot but we are getting use to it."
