Heading North
14 April 2007 | La Cruz
When last you heard from Slacker we were in Barra de Navidad living the food life in the warm weather. Well, all good things must come to an end. We have started the long haul back to Mazatlan to end our season. The biggest hurdle of the trip so has been getting around Cabo Corrientes. This is Mexico's version of Point Conception. Not only are there strong winds from the NW, but a current of 2 -4 knots from the South. When these collide at the point they create huge steep seas. We were lucky in that we had only 20-28 knots and seas of 8 feet. Not that we saw a lot of that, we rounded the point a 5:00 in the morning! Others have had it much worse. We are now anchored in La Cruz, outside of Puerto Vallarta, and have been spending time at Philos Bar. Philo is an ex cruiser who settled in La Cruz and opened a pizzza and burger joint. They have live music most nights and it has become the cruisers hangout. In a few days we will move to Chacala, San Blas and them Mazatlan where we will store Slacker until next year. More to come....
