Have a lucky day!

07 July 2011 | Las Vegas
We've now finally seen Vegas for the first time, sort of like discovering who the Easter bunny is. We arrived yesterday afternoon from Zion which was an easy 150 mile drive. We're staying in a hotel right on the strip and the camper is parked downstairs in the garage where it can have a break from the sun! It was only 103 degrees today which is a decrease anyway. We've walked all over through many of the casinos, watched the shows and have eaten at the buffets. Today we did leave for a few hours to head into the mountains nearby to take a walk- in a short drive of about 20 miles, you can be in a national forest at over 9,000 feet where there's still snow on the mountain and then you can look down into the valley of Vegas. Kindof an odd feeling. I even had a jacket on for a bit! We walked up this canyon that ended at a beautiful little waterfall shooting out of a rock, then headed back down before a thunderstorm hit.
Tonight we headed back onto the strip for a finale since we're heading to King's Canyon in California tomorrow morning. We even rode a roller coaster tonight which I now realize is much scarier than when I was younger. Jon says he doesn't care about them but I can hear him laughing away the whole time while I'm screaming.

We've had a nice time here and notice that instead of "have a nice day" they appropriately say "have a lucky day"- we feel lucky just to be here seeing this, and we haven't even gambled a cent! Mainly that's because we feel like our whole lifestyle is a gamble- why push our luck?
