Made it to Beaufort

09 November 2011 | Beaufort, NC
From Trip South Fall 2011

We've been in Beaufort the past couple of days which has been so nice. The weather has been beautiful and it is total shorts & shirt temperature for a change. Of course this changed today as a cold front moved in. We spent the first day just walking all over, on the Rachel Carson island with the wild horses that Beaufort is known for and around the town's waterfront with all the fancy houses. We've always liked Beaufort and it is a sailor's gathering place. Everything is about boating here. A few years ago this is where we staged our departure for Bermuda and the docks are again filled with boats waiting to go.

We spent much of yesterday doing a few projects that we needed to do before our next offshore hop. We were planning to leave today but now the forecast changed so it doesn't look good to go. So I guess we'll move down the waterway some more to at least cover some miles south and see what tomorrow holds.
