Can´t get there from here!

13 February 2009 | Still in Guanaja
Heather
Uuhhh!!!! Not that Guanaja isn´t nice but.... we´re sort of dying to get going toward Panama but the trade winds won´t ease up enough for us to head out into them. So it is at this time of year, especially during February. How long do we sit around here and wait. I would put a question mark at the end of that sentence but can´t find it on this keyboard. I love internet cafe´s! We should have gotten over here in January and then maybe we´d have had a window by now.

I had a great birthday. Jon made me hash and eggs for breakfast (good stick to your ribs food) and then we headed over to the North side of the island to snorkel for most of the day. We walked a nice beach and found tons of sea beans, lounged in the water enjoying the bouyancy of our wetsuits and snorkeled 2 reefs filled with beautiful corals. Later that day, we headed over to Carolyn & Andrew´s for dinner. I liked how they presented the candle on my bead pudding dessert that was my cake- it was a candle in the shape of a question mark. That matches how I feel about this 40 thing. Sometimes it´s OK, and sometimes I worry about the advancing age thing. The years are flying by! I have so much I want to do even besides just getting to Panama!

We did hike to a nice waterfall the day before yesterday and we´ve enjoyed hanging out with Pendragon. They will likely leave here tomorrow. Frankly, if the winds are going to blow for a few more days now with no window, I vote for heading back to Roatan and exploring more there since it is only 20 miles away and when we get a weather window, just leave from there. It would beat sitting around here where we´ve pretty much done everything there is to do.

Well, that´s the update from here. Thanks for all the birthday wishes and hope everyone is fine and happy!
