Boat Scoot Boogie 06 42N 112 58W Oct 26, 2013 Less than 1000 nm to Acapulco! We have had our best distance day yet at 154 nm and look to do well the next also. This could be thanks to being on a beam reach in 20- 25 kt SSW winds, and being in a knot of favorable current. We feel there is light at the end of the voyage tunnel! Hurricane Raymond is passing us going the other way at 13N, about 500 nm N of us, so we can quit wondering about that. Now we can wonder what the itcz, monsoon trof, is going to present us with as we steer 060T, a diagonal path across it in a couple days. The gribs look pretty black there in our path. Meanwhile, all well on Pincoya. We are having much more cloudy weather and squally conditions with winds up to 17 kts so far. Makes those long night hours much more busy taking in and letting out reefs in the jib. We have kept the main with a second reef in it for days now, still on a starboard tack. Propagation for sailmail stations is sketchy out here; we can only get through early morning or evening. All for now.
