Rearrange contents or rearrange furniture

21 January 2010 | San Blas Estuary
Jodee
We all know that when we have a house you have to rearrange the furniture from time to time. Well Russ be a weight and balance man from his flying days making sure all the weight is evenly balanced on the airplane has carried over to the sailboat.

He informs me that he has a plan. Now that is not a good sign because that usually means work for me. So why should this be any different, right. His plan is to move all the can goods from the starboard side over to the port side because of the jerry jugs that are carried on deck and the location of the water and fuel tanks in the boat.

This entails moving everything from those cabinets and finding a new home for them and then move the can goods into them. Well this also included the port closet storage and the bathroom storage. Yes I got everything out and consolidated and moved. There were some storage items under the stove that had to be reorganized. This little procedure took pretty much most of the day. Since we are in the cleaning, consolidating and moving phase why not include the fridge. Yes the complete contents of the galley are now rearranged. I only hope I can find everything.

So the moral of the story is always be aware when the man says he has an idea because it will have to do with your territory and you doing it. I much prefer the word "WE" because we means you.

Anyway you ask what do we do out cruising. Well some of us read and some do everyday task like you do at home.

After living on a boat for over 26 years it is like you living in your house. We do the same things just in a different way.

Enjoy.
