Topolobampo Farmers Market

Since you never start a journey on Friday, it is off to the farmers market instead. This market was more enjoyable than the one in San Blas. They had more of a variety of stuff, more meat vendors than you can shake a stick at. All the meat was fresh, complete with a fly chaser. The fly chaser is a person waving a pom pom around the meat to keep the flys at bay. The vegetable stands were picturesque, and the clothing booths were neatly folded or hung up. We purchased some cheese, pork roast, chicken, bananas and Russ tried an water drink, it was brown in color. I can't remember the name of it but it had a hint of coffee and caramel to me and lots of sugar. Russ loved it. It was too sweet for me. It made me thirsty for regular water. The vegetable vendor got a kick out of Russ wanting to buy one carrot for the dogs. He just gave it to him with an ear to ear grin. There was also a portable grocery store. We got to try Manchaca, which is shredded dried seasoned beef. It was good so we bought some. Oh we also bought a couple of CD's. The local people have a lot of pride. You can see it in the way they carry them selves when they walk, their posture and the way they dress. This is also one of the cleanest city's we have been in. Topolobampo is a working class town. We would come back.
Photos will be posted next week when the connection is stronger.
