Flagstaff Arizona to Vancouver, Washington

We had a good ride today. We drove up hwy 89 from Flagstaff and went through the cypress forest, pine forest, stopped at the Vermillion Cliffs which to say the least are spectacular. If you use your imagination you could almost see Indians on their horse lined up in a row on top of the flat top mountain. The mountain has multiple colors from green, tan and red. It is truly beautiful. We then stopped at a rock house. It looks like a bolder fell off the mountain and rolled to a stop and then it became part of a house. The story goes that a pioneer built this house and raised two generations. There is an outhouse that was built into a little cave. There was another bolder that had a cave in it that had shelves in it for sleeping. To this day it is still in the family although not lived in. This also was interesting to see. The rest of the ride was just as beautiful. The variety of scenery is magnificent. We have stopped in Kanab for the evening.
From Knab we drove to Duchesne. Finally we are home. Tomorrow we will start to unload the car and move all the stuff we brought back into the motor home or mom's basement. The spare time was spent looking for a car. After a few days at mom's we are ready to head to Salt Lake. Russ and Dad are taking the motor home to look at a car and then meet mom and me in Salt Lake City. Yes we now have a 1992 Camry Wagon. This purchase will help when all the VA exams start. 27 miles to the gallon is better than 15.
Went to Disabled American Vets today and filed a claim. They say it will take 6-8 weeks before the exams will start, so we took the motor home back to Duchesne and the next day jumped into the car and headed to Vancouver Washington to visit Russ's Dad. The route took us from hwy 40 out of Duchesne to hwy 80 to hwy 84 up to Pendleton Oregon for the night, then from Pendleton to Vancouver Washington. The terrain was varied and beautiful. We will be here for a while visiting with Dad, Rick (Russ's brother) and Rodney & Bea (Russ's Son & his wife).
Last night we went over to Dad's and fixed a flat iron steak on the grill for dinner. It is now my favorite steak. It is tender and flavorful. Dad likes to watch all the cooking shows, so while visiting dad I got some cooking ideas. No movie tonight.Last night we went over to Dad's and fixed a flat iron steak on the grill for dinner.
