Back in the Balearics

What a trip! The weather has been against us and I'm over sailing into a headwind. What started as a fabulous broad reach changed to a close reach then a close haul and by day 2 we were motor sailing. Sadly, despite sailing over 8,000 miles in the last two years our recent 1,200 mile dash back across the Med over the last 3 weeks has left me reeling with sea sickness that was becoming unmanageable. Some days Phil finds it difficult to get me to leave port. However, things are looking up with easterlies forecast all this week.
We stood off Porto Colom in Mallorca on Friday 18th in the early hours of the morning waiting for yet another electrical storm to ease and were very glad to drop anchor in the lovely protected harbour. After a day of rest, some enjoyable walks along the shore and a good meal in a harbour side restaurant, Phil persuaded me to head back out and we sailed through to Ibiza, anchoring in Cala Talamanca at dusk. I spent much of the day horizontal and conquered the sea sickness (for now) so I'm feeling more hopeful that the new sea sickness pills will work.
Phil loves Ibiza but we felt some of the buzz was missing now the weather is cold, rainy and windy. However we did enjoy an afternoon strolling around in between squalls and a night out on the town.
Two amazing incidents for Phil in Ibiza: 1. finding his fav Australian magazine "The Monthly" in the Ibiza newsagent and 2. Having an immigration official travel out to a hotel near our anchorage to stamp our passports! Amazing service - usually it's difficult to get passports stamped at all.
The wind picked up from the east today so we had to leave the lovely Cala Talamanca anchorage this afternoon but we're now tucked up in Isla Espalmador near Formentera with about 30 other yachts in a delightful anchorage. Hopefully we can relax here tomorrow then take advantage of the easterlies to sail to Almerimar.
