Equator Alert
01 February 2007 | Nearing Ecuador
Cassie
Guess what?
Sora will cross the equator this evening around 10pm. This caught us both by suprise. For some reason we thought that this monumental event wasn't going to happen until we were on our way to
the Galapagos. Oops.
In preparation, I have painted our toes (yes, I will post pictures) and am working on a clever toast for this evening, but can't remember any of the traditional rituals for equatorial virgins. Dad has flown over the zero mark several times in a Fed-ex MD-11, but this is his first time to actually sail over it.
I sure would like some feedback on what critical nautical traditions for this evening's activities cannot go over-looked. I don't want to piss
Neptune off.
So, what do YOU think we should do?
Send us an instant message on our satellite phone. I have posted a link directly to the Iridium website on the right side of the page. It's free for both parties, so no excuses! I am excited to get your suggestions.
Cheers to the spirits of the Pacific and the many ships who have crossed the equator in years past...
