Sunrise Slow Down
25 May 2007
Cassie
We have slowed down a bit in order to hit Takaroa at day break. I am becoming quite fond of this whole offshore thing. I find that after a couple of days out free from land distractions and riding a fresh breeze that I am quite content.
Dad pulled an all nighter watch. I guess that's the pilot coming out in him. We had some weather and gusts above thirty so he probably wouldn't have gotten much sleep anyway. So today I am well rested and happy for it. Thanks Capt.
Amy gets back on Free Spirit tomorrow. I have immensely enjoyed having her around. I haven't had a girlfriend onboard for more than a few days since we left Pensacola and am loving the feminine energy. What an amazing experience it is to engage in discussion with a compassionate, intelligent, worldly, young, vibrant, philosophical woman. She is a fantastic travel mate and I'm looking forward to our next adventure.
However, tomorrow I'm afraid it's back to the father-daughter feud. *sigh* Maybe we'll wake up one morning and realizing that this exhausting emotional competition that we engage ourselves in is just plain silly. Maybe when he gets that tattoo...
He sure can catch a fish though! I enjoyed sailfish sashimi for both lunch and dinner yesterday. Damn tasty if I do say so myself.
Cheers to relationships of all shapes and sizes, Cass t
