Good north wind
Left Log Pond Marina in Havre de Gracem MD about 12:30 on Oct. 30. Very low tide, had to get several friends to help push the boat out of the mud. Also very cold (ice on dock). Spent night at Wharton's Creek, about 15 miles. Made Annapolis on 10/31, under power. Walked a lot - West Marine is now 3 miles off the waterfront! Arrived in Deltaville, VA on Nov. 3, with a voltage regulator issue. Spent 4 days here having it repaired (and bought a small heater - electric, so only good in marinas). We walked a lot, but also used their courtesy car (what a nice deal; they didn't even ask to see a drivers' license!). Terry's computer died here, so we had no blog until Eddie bought one in Charleston, SC, on Nov. 29.

Stopped in Portsmouth, VA and saw Darnice and her (new) husband Terrell and their 2 very cute children. (We were the smallest boat in the marina there.)

Eddie bruised/cracked a rib and slept in the salon one night - and both of us nearly froze! (We don't have enough covers to sleep apart!).

Crossed Albemarle Sound under power. Terry was an unhappy passenger! The wind was about 25 knots, and waves were at least 5 feet. Stardust rocked and rolled. Not sick; scared. Eddie enjoyed the trip!

The ICW hasn't been dredged in awhile, apparently. We got stuck (2nd time?)
in South Lake, (VA, between Bellhaven & Coinjock) Were able to get out of this one without calling TowBoat US.

We're starting to see some of the same boats in anchorages and marinas. Some of these have foreign flags and look like they've been at this for awhile; several gas cans, extra sails, stuff bundled/tied along the sides.

Celebrated Eddie's 70th b'day on Nov. 14, and arrived in Beaufort, NC on the 16th, determined to get married! Got our license, set out to find a ring and a person who could marry us. Found both, and both of us got a haircut from "Tony", Rev. Beth Curtis married us on Nov. 17, and Glen & Seray, friends from Havre de Grace, stood up for us. Had dinner with a couple who are friends of Glen & Seray and live in the old family home, pre Civil War. What a great day and a great little town!

We've run aground 10 times, 3 of them required TowBoat US! And we've gone under many 65 ft. bridges, several swing bridges, and seen so many ostentatious houses on the ICW! Cypress swamps and trees are a welcome relief.

Currently we're in Charleston at a marina with several hundred other boats. Got to spend time with Marie and Gene Clements (Marie is a college friend of Terry's). They were visiting her oldest sister who lives in a beautiful home in Mt. Pleasant on the Charleston Harbor. I am so grateful that Marie and her sister were willing to take me grocery shopping! Marie, Gene, Eddie and I went out to dinner. We really enjoy their company.

We hope to be able to blog every few days (when we're in WiFi range), and include photos. We hope all is well at home, and that all our friends and relatives are well.
