The Commodore's Ball

08 February 2015 | Whistler's Toronto
Jacqui/Snow Storm
As has become tradition, there was a winter weather advisory for this year's Commodore's Ball held at Whistler's. We were a smallish but merry group. (Too many folks escaping the weather and heading south!) Food was good. Dancing was great. Wendy & I looked marvelous. Here's a picture.

Sure not like last year

Jacqui/Sunny, windy and -2
As you can see from the picture I took at the club last week, there isn't much show around here. The temperatures have dropped down and then risen up to melting again. We haven't had much show and the little we have had, melted. Apparently we have freezing rain to look forward to for Saturday morning. Hopefully, it stays nice for Ground Hog day next Saturday.

Baby it's Cold Outside

07 January 2015 | Toronto
Jacqui/-18c wind chill -29
The TV and Radio announcers are shrieking about deadly cold and frigid temperatures. It is cold, colder than usual. But if you have ever been to Winnipeg - it is only cold, not frigid. Let's face it my nostrils weren't freezing shut.

This evening there were 6 pairs of Cardinals at the bird feeder. Cardinals are normally territorial. If you see more than 2 together they are usually immediate relatives. For the last while we have had three pairs, but that number has doubled. The cold and need for food is forcing these guys to occupy the same space.

I attach a grainy picture. It was taken near the end of the day in low light.

Winter Has Arrived

Jacqui/Very Cold & Windy
Wind chill of - 18 today. Going down to an actual -16 c tonight and cold and windy tomorrow. With a number of friends heading cruising or off to Mexico, I have reactivated the south shore blog.

Hope you are all warmer where you are.

Solstice

Jacqui/Sunny & Warm
It has been a beautiful spring in Toronto this year. Some lament that we have had spring temperatures, not summer temperatures. I and I think the plants have loved the warmish days and coolish nights.

We have even been out for 2 lovely sails on Wild Jasmine. Flat water and enough wind to have the boat moving at up to 6 knots. Perfect for taking guests out for a spring fling.

Our friends on Prime Interest took a picture of us as we came in the Eastern Gap last weekend.

Happy Birthday Ken

Jacqui/Coolish drizzle
My friend Ken & I had a project together. Working with a big team we were able to get 2 new buildings built at the club. So here is my birthday present to him. As you can see, many many members have spent hours and hours getting the interior of the buildings ready for LTS. Here are some pictures.
