On our way

Bob
(from Bob) So we are on our way. The first night was tough for me as I didn't put on the seasick patch till we were leaving the channel. But I am feeling better now.

Larry found me by reading my add requesting crew from last year. He also knew Scott and invited him, so it is the three of us. We provisioned the boat at Costco on Sunday morning. I dropped them off at the boat and went ot get my family and block ice. Apparently block ice is not popular in Hawaii. No one carried it and there was was one place back in Honolulu that had it. We now have 4 bags of cubed ice. It seems to be holding pretty well. I have been leaving the fridge on and it doesn't seem to be drawing too much amps.

Leaving the channel the winds were around 10 knots and the sea state was mild (but not mild enough for me). We were able to sail pretty directly for SF so our VMG was good. We have been able to make about 5 knots an hour.

Scott cooked some chicken thighs and pasta with cheese. It was tasty. In the night on Larry's shift was reefed the main as the squalls were coming through with 25 knots of wind. We have been sailing with the reef since then and have continued to average 5 knots. This evening we have started the motor to charge the batteries, and are currently moving at 7 to 8 knots.

This morning I gingerly ate a yogurt and it seemed to stay down okay. As I was chatting with Scott on deck, I saw a green glass fishing float. We turned around and picked it up on the second try. That help lift my spirits. The float has been cleaned and stored in one of the empty coolers.

We will have a radio check at midnight tonight. Position reports form the returning boats will be collected and entered on the pacificcup.org web sight.
