Provisioning
02 August 2009
People are often interested in how to provision for a long trip and everybody has a different way so here's some of my list:
nuts (mixed with raisins, coconut, pumpkin seeds, whatever for snacks)
2-3 large cans of tomatoes and small cans coconut milk (for fish stew with saffron, garlic and lime)
Tetra Pak milks and broths
mac and cheese
lentils, oats, granola, pasta, rice
crackers
flour
yeast packets
dried mushrooms
canned salmon, sardines, tuna
miso soup packets
dried hummus mix
seeds for sprouting
olive oil, sesame oil, honey, vinagers
salt, pepper, cinnamon, saffron, cumin and italian seasoning
garlic, ginger, onion, apples, lemons, limes, bags of potatoes
3 doz eggs, cheeses, butter, cream cheese, canned biscuits and cin rolls
We buy fresh when possible, but around the island it is limited and expensive so durable fruits like apples and veggies like potatoes work well.
