The Baja Bash

Preparing for the Baja Bash (the trip north from Mexico to California). They call it “The Bash” because the prevailing winds and waves are from the northwest. So you are basically going uphill (if that makes any sense).

La Cruz de Huanacaxtle

13 December 2015 | Anchorage in La Cruz
Pat - Raining
Today is Sunday December 13.

After spending ten days in Paradise Village Marina we have moved to the anchorage at La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. There are about 30 boats here in the anchorage.

Melodie took a quick trip back to the San Francisco Bay area to attend to a few things.

We had some rain while she was gone. Four inches in 24 hours! It did a great job washing off the boat.

I was basking in the glow of our perfectly running boat. That was until yesterday when the exhaust elbow blew on the genset. I caught it pretty quick, so it didn't make too much of a mess. Many of you may recall this part broke in Turtle Bay last year. There was quite a story in getting it repaired. This time a different weld broke. FYI, I did try to get a replacement over the summer. The vendor no longer supports this item. Now I'm looking at having a custom exhaust elbow made.

A squall came through the anchorage when the rains came of Friday evening, just before dark. Two boats drug anchor. There was no one aboard one of the boats and other boaters went over to let out more anchor chain. The second boat was too close to us (I thought), but when it began to drag, it drug away from us. When they got their anchor reset, they were a good distance from us.

My battery low warnings are flashing, so I'll make this short.
