The Baja Bash

Preparing for the Baja Bash (the trip north from Mexico to California). They call it “The Bash” because the prevailing winds and waves are from the northwest. So you are basically going uphill (if that makes any sense).

Pat and Melodie
Melodie and I have been catching up on our boat projects during October. We sealed 2 leaks (these are the ones we knew of), varnished the companionway hatch, and cleaned a few things. We are all set to leave Starshine for a few more weeks.

Pat is flying to Puerto Vallarta to meet up with Optimus Prime, a 2008 Beneteau 49. He will be assisting in a Mustad Marine delivery from Puerto Vallarta to St. Thomas USVI via the Panama Canal. The trip should take six weeks, give or take. Melodie will be flying to Milwaukee to spend time with her family while he’s gone….Back to the cold weather. Starshine is staying in her slip in San Carlos. Pat began crewing for Arnstien Mustad back in 2008 and has completed several deliveries, including Hawaii to SF, SF to Seattle, Cabo to San Diego, and a few coastal trips from So Cal to SF and back.

The original plan had Opitimus Prime in Mazatalan, and we were going to sail down to meet the boat there. But OP Stayed in Puerto Vallarta. We decided to just start our season late and not be pressed by a departure date. We are still planning to make it as far south as Tenicatita and Barra De Navidad this season. That’s the plan at least, as always we will remain flexible; plans often change. We will see what comes.

Not sure when our next blog post will be. But it will be from Optimus Prime if we do post anything.

Have a great Thanksgiving!
