Whatever the weather....

29 April 2012 | The Bight, Norman Island, BVI's
Susan Mackay
For four days now the wind has been blowing hard from the east. Last night the gusts woke me up and I was in good company. Many of the boats moored round about us were also up, their torches flashing up at the bow, checking their lines for chafe. Today our final day out, David went into the water to clear the weed from Voyageur's waterline which grows inexorably day by day. I had to rig a line for him to hold onto, the current was that strong. But nothing, not even that will prevent me from going in swimming. Tomorrow I have realised, is the last time in perhaps what will be a very long time, we will go swimming off the boat. Along with ocean sailing it is the thing that I will miss that more than anything else. I wonder if I will still be saying that one week from now!
