Wow! We finally left the dock!

04 November 2012 | Ortega River, JAX, FL
After approximately 4 1/2 months we pulled away from the dock this morning. We didn't get that far though... a railroad bridge south of us is closed for repairs and only opens once per day for an hour. So, we will try again tomorrow. It just feels so good to be underway again.

We have truly enjoyed our stay in Jacksonville for many reasons. We got a LOT accomplished including a galley refit, new bimini and sunshades, mainsail bath and mainsail cover repair, reefing winch, re-brass clock & barometer, new batteries, new reefing winch, water pump, varnish bulkheads, caulk heads & shower, and a bunch of miscellaneous stuff.

But besides working on the boat we REALLY liked JAX! We liked the town and the funky arts and music scene, we made new friends and the Ortega River was a great hurricane hole.

AND we have a new kitten! Kai, an amazing Bengal hybrid, is 4 months old now and we are having a lot of fun with him. He is WAAY too smart, very energetic and quite handsome. He and Velcro are starting to get along, although I don't anticipate any great friendship, more like peaceful coexistence. So here is a picture of Kai, newest crew member.

We are headed south ASAP so we can get to th eExumas in time for our wedding on December 14th....hope to see you there!!
